Bronkhorst, the Netherlands
Bronkhorst's historic city is worth exploring. retrace your steps across time. If you're in the vicinity, you should visit this charming town because it has a rich and interesting history.
Around 1000 AD, when Bronkhorst was only a little fishing community, the area's first settlers arrived. But because of its advantageous location on the IJssel River, the town has become more significant over the years. It developed into a center of commerce and manufacturing in the fifteenth century, and many of the town's historic structures are from this time.
Unfortunately, war has not always spared Bronkhorst from its effects. Spanish soldiers destroyed the fortress in the sixteenth century, and later, during the Napoleonic Wars, the city walls were torn down. However, despite these setbacks, the inhabitants of Bronkhorst have consistently been able to recover and thrive.
Come and enjoy this winter journey in the medieval city of Bronkhorst.
