Got to spend several weeks documenting Coney Island. Saw birth and death, proof of progress and room for change. Above all, saw a beautiful neighborhood and people. Residents of Coney Island rally at the location of a shooting that was part of a rash of gun violence over the weekend. Two bystanders were shot including 10 year-old Eddie Abdelrahaman.

Coney Island community volunteer extraordinaire Brigitte Purvis and her son Devin on his graduation. Purvis fought the city in court to make sure her son could be placed in a school that could adequately serve his needs. Devin will be attending SUNY-Purchase in the Fall.

Still hard at work on our Brooklyn Insights project for Brooklyn Community Foundation. Had the chance to attend a Culture Fair hosted by members of the Bengali Community of Brooklyn and Queens. The fair was created to celebrate and encourage diversity and cultural exchange as well as providing a safe and fun family event.
