I know that tumblr is usually not the best place for for comprehensive, level-headed information on current events issues, however I usually find that shortformblog does a really stellar job, and he's gone really into why Zimmerman was acquitted from a legal perspective, which I think is really important for everyone to understand (especially when I've seen many posts alluding that the jury was acting with racial bias.) I would especially recommend this post detailing the difference between a legally satisfying verdict and a morally satisfying verdict, and this quote explaining why Zimmerman was not convicted of manslaughter. 

Mother Jones and brooklynmutt are two other blogs that also generally do  a good job of covering the news.

way to post an image without any context or due diligence re: its authenticity i guess

even that horribly-written sensationalist gothamist article that capitalized the word Government every time it was used realized that the flyer was a fabrication intended to draw attention to the test
