7.7.22 Lunchtime drawing: I bought this cactus that resides in my art studio when I was painting cacti in the windows of a commissioned painting (hi Malika!) - and am giving it its drawing-a-day dues today. Behind the scenes note, I spilled a giant glass of water that I was using with the watercolor paintings all over my table above the flat files – so lucky they were all closed.

Also, I’m seeking access to rooftops to draw from in NYC this month and I need your help – please get in touch if you want to share a rooftop with a view? I’d love to draw there.

The Changing Face of Brooklyn

Here are two images made nearly forty years apart: underneath of the Brooklyn Queens Expressway at Park and Vanderbilt Avenues. This lies in between Pratt Institute and the Brooklyn Navy Yard, adjacent to Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.

#MapMondays - 1859 Bird’s Eye View of the City of New York This unique was centered from the Wallabout Bay (future home of the Brooklyn Navy Yard) and looks towards Manhattan with the independent city of Brooklyn on the left and Williamsburg on the right. Fort Greene Park is seen on the immediate left as is Union Square, Madison Square, and Tompkins Square across the East River. This outfit is a collection of faves old and new. My most recent addition is this tote from @offdutynyc, which is perfect for life in the city - big enough to lug my packages home, but cute enough to be a real part of my outfit. Love the mix of graphic rose gold and metallic purple too. With my trusty @forever21plus midi, my new @ellos_usa espadrille wedges, and hexagon sunnies from @eloquii, I was ready for a rooftop birthday in Brooklyn (and wandering around the #brooklynnavyyard beforehand).
