If anyone's wondering what my tags in the previous reblog's screenshot say: the Latino Jason Todd headcanon Can be harmful because of stereotypes of latinos being poor and violent, as Jason was poor + uses guns + is sometimes considered "the violent robin" (which I don't like but that's besides the point). So having concerns over it being mishandled is fair and completely understandable!
BUT nuance is important. There is a huge difference between a gringo (non latino person) having that headcanon because of stereotypes and consequently spreading harmful and offensive rhetoric because of it, and a latino person headcanoning that because they like the character and want to connect to them. And a gringo telling a latino person they can't headcanon a character they like as latino is just. completely ridiculous!
I dunno, I just wanted to explain my thoughts on the matter because i often see people say it's a harmful headcanon, and I understand and agree it Can be harmful if mishandled. But it's important to understand WHY it can be bad instead of simply spreading that it's harmful with no further explanation so we don't end up with randos embarassing themselves telling latinos their latino hc is wrong and bad
