okay doll people of tumblr, i need your help. i just picked up this lovely lady from an antique store for $15, and when i tried to research her, i found this mark on her neck that says Bru Jne. (sorry i couldn’t get a better picture, her hair is almost detached and i didn’t want to pull it off entirely.)
now, according to the internet, that’s absurd. Bru Jne dolls were made in the 1800s and sell for thousands of dollars. she doesn’t look nearly that old, and at the very least the body is modern cotton.
I also can’t find a picture of a Bru Jne model that really looks like her, anyway. so what gives? is she a reproduction? can you even use the Bru Jne marking if it’s a reproduction? is that what the second stamp means? or is she actually that old, but has been doll hospital’d onto a new body and cleaned up?? (and potentially, tragically, had her face redone a bit?)
