Watch as much of the 1964 Belgium performance as you can - there's plenty of it on youtube. I posted 'St Louis Blues' earlier - here's 'In your own sweet way'. A haunting tune and a fitting end to my little Brubeck tribute.

The world said goodbye to one of the greatest Jazz pianists and composers this week. A day shy of his 92nd birthday, Dave Brubeck passed on. His contribution to jazz was immense - in popularising it, in breaking down prejudices and in his welath of compositions and melodies. 

I'm not going to churn out the same old lines that appear in every obit about him; it's well documented already how great a man he was, but instead post some of my favourite Brubeck performances. 

This one I've posted before, but it is my favourite. The classic quartet perform St Louis Blues. Everything about this is perfect. Unfortunately Gene Wright is the only surviving member now.
