I am LOSING IT OVER PART 5
Abbachio is actually in love. Like, he’s in love like how I’m in love, to the point of complete devotion and utter stupidity.
Here’s what we have so far, as I wrote down my reactions live (I am only on episode 21, so please don’t spoil anything else):
Abbachio and Bruno literally have a ‘it’s raining and one person has an umbrella and words of encouragement while the other is in the worst stage of their life’ scene. You know, one of the most ubiquitous romantic scenes in media.
Abbachio and Bruno work together so well during the boat scene. It’s like they share a mind or know each other well enough that they don’t even have to use words to communicate.
OH MY GOD ABBACHIO IS SO IN LOVE He went, “The only time I’m at ease is when I’m following the orders of something greater” and immediately the shot cut to Bruno literally being a beacon of light onto Abbachio. Like, this man is in love! IDK if Bruno is also in love, but you don’t consistently have internal interactions like this unless you are in love with that person.
Abbachio was like “Yeah, you’re gonna die probably and I’ll also probably die if I do this. But the only time I’m ever at ease is when I’m with you, so I’m gonna get on the boat.” Like, he is actually in love. At first I was like, is this just something that people ship because they’re two men who are roughly the same age and they share a scene together, but no. Abbachio is ACTUALLY IN LOVE with Bruno.

Like, how on earth did Araki write in a reference to a gay couple and then immediately brutally kill them both?? In the same part that he made ABBACHIO?? I’m baffled because I’m like 85% sure that he’s not actually gonna commit to making Abbachio canonically mlm, but if Araki is then now is the time! You have set this up well, sir! Now just have a confession scene or something! Hell I’ll take a ‘holding hands as a way to confirm we’re in love’ scene or even a ‘sudden kiss under adrenaline’ scene that the dudebros will explain away because of course we can’t have gay people in this anime where the main characters dress like THAT, just give me something! This is your chance! Dazzle me! Don’t bury the gays, let them have a good time! Make me feel like you actually want to write gay characters, not just confirming that they’re LBGT+ after the fact like you did with DIO! GIVE ME SOMETHING PLEASE!
