Naum bared two rows of sharp teeth in a broad grin. “Hard-knock life without me around?” He teased in a happy guttural hum. The gnoll’s head lowered itself to lightly nudge his friend’s face in an affectionate gesture that was likely designed for members of his own species rather than lanky air genasi.
“Missed you, too. I got into a shitload of trouble. You would’ve hated it.” He yipped a laugh, one freshly tattered ear twitching.
A warm wave of foul gnoll breath hit his face, but Minosh couldn’t care less. Fleas and stink be damned, he had not expected the mere sight of his old friend to fill him with such joy. Long fingers quickly sunk into thick fur as he ruffled the other’s head like a dog to return the greeting.
“Ohh, do tell.” He laughed, grin stretching from ear to ear. “I’m good with trouble, you know, so long as it doesn’t get me killed. Glad to see it didn’t kill ya either. C’mon, let’s go grab a snack. Drinks on me!” Only the drinks, that was. Paying to satiate Naum’s enormous appetite would probably leave him entirely bankrupt.
