Page 11. --- An 18-year-old eastern Ontario girl was found by police with her hands and feet frozen, her tongue slashed and a bone in her hand fractured. Her 300-pound stepmother has been arrested and charged with maiming. Police say that the girl was forced out of doors in January weather in only dress and stockings. Her feet were frozen before she was allowed indoors again. Police also reported that a small piece of her tongue had been pinched off by pliers and that a V-shaped piece of flesh is till missing from the tongue. The girl’s condition was brought to the attention of authorities by the family’s neighbors.

Thomas was found unconscious on the street at 11:20. Detectives who investigated arrested one man who is held in connection with the affair. Thomas was severely beaten about the head.
