I love this scene so much. Mark Ruffalo could have just played the a one-note character, but he didn’t. We don’t talk about this very often, but Bruce has had a shit life, especially if you take the comics into consideration.
He knows he can’t kill himself. He knows that he will have to live with the Hulk for the rest of his life, which will probably be longer than the average human life due to the Hulk. He was so disgusted with himself that he thought he was better off dead. He has always been a hero, and even more importantly a kind person.
He is a man who is just looking for some peace, while being one of the most deadly forces in the universe.
