Just rewatched Age of Ultron, man I wish they'd spent more time exploring Bruce and Natasha's dynamic. It could have been so interesting.
They went from fearing and mistrusting each other (for very interesting reasons!) to developing a deep trust and understanding. It must have taken some serious character development and communication for Natasha to get over her fear of this beast that could kill her without a moment's thought to see the man underneath. And it must have taken a lot for Bruce to not only get over his distrust of Natasha, but to regard her highly enough to trust her with the part of himself he fears and hates the most.
And yes they bond over feeling irredeemable and monstrous, but also over old movies and silly yes-and routines! They both hide corny, dorky senses of humor, and I think they could have been a hilarious duo with their dry senses of humor and perfect poker faces. Real this-would-have-been-so-good-if-it-was-good moment.
