Cooper watched her with intent as she got closer to him and before he knew it, she snatched the cigarette out of his hand. She was the one who had gotten him to start smoking, and maybe sometimes he had some on him in case she was around. It was silly when he thought about it, keeping cigarettes on hand for her to steal. But it reflected his feelings about Clara pretty well, she was something he was never be able to get rid of. No matter how bad it got, no matter how much they hurt each other, they always ended up back in the other's embrace before sooner or later they brought it crashing back down again. They didn't fit together, not really. They were too different, something both of them was happy to point out for the other one in an argument. Pompous, elitist, snobby. Some of the words Clara had thrown his way during an argument. Not that he really blamed her. It was said in the heat of the moment. Underneath it all, they did really care for the other. They were just too damaged to be able to handle their "relationship" in a healthy way. Cooper enjoyed that he had been able to get her out here, that she had followed him. She could deny it all she wanted, he knew the truth. He knew more about her than she cared to admit. "Right." he simply said, letting her get away with trying to make it seem as if she didn't follow him out here. Cooper wore his heart on his sleeve, which was a big difference between him and Clara. "That's a stupid question. I always miss you." there's a hint of bitterness in his tone, but it isn't really aimed at her, more at the whole situation. His eyes are drawn to hers and to the cigarette she's holding, she's about to bring it to her lips when he snatches it back from her , right out of her fingers. He brings it to his lips and takes a long drag, he doesn't know what he feels more, the rush of the nicotine or the rush of being so close to her. He drops the cigarette gracefully out of his fingers to the ground and then he steps on it with a light touch, putting it out. "Those things will kill you, y'know?"
