In mid-June 2017, the Jaguars announced that the team had claimed a new cornerback (CB), Taurean Nixon of the Denver Broncos. One day prior to the Jaguars' announcement, the Broncos stated that they had waived Nixon in order to add CB Chris Lewis-Harris to their own lineup. First drafted into the NFL during the seventh round in 2015, Nixon spent two seasons with the Broncos. During this time, he served as a member of the practice squad until late in the 2015 season, when he joined the team’s active lineup. Nixon went on to play in two 2016 regular season games with the Broncos, racking up one tackle on the field. Previously, Nixon played for the University of Memphis and Tulane University. Out of 38 total games played at both colleges, he started 21. Overall, he made more than 90 tackles, defended nine passes, and intercepted the ball seven times throughout his entire collegiate career.
