Barred Branch is a funny little town full of funny little people, and Brynne Harlow is one of the eccentric locals. To keep her own secrets and tragic backstory at bay, she enjoys meddling in the lives and history of her chosen home. One night, during a ghost hunt, she accidentally stumbles upon a secret laboratory hidden under an abandoned hospital. When the mad scientist responsible for it discovers that she isn't exactly what she seems, he becomes fixated on what her unique genetics can do for his current project: achieving immortality. She seems easy enough to subdue, right?
Unfortunately for Dr. Victor Gideon, Brynne is not so easily dominated. She will force him to confront the intersection of his past, present, and future -- and in return, Victor will make her reconcile the person she is with the person she wishes she was. At least they'll have fun doing it.
