Sanchez Sideline Report: Bayou Bengals Bag a Big One! Bryson Cooley Commits to LSU!
Baton Rouge is buzzing today as the LSU Tigers have landed a massive commitment for their 2026 class! Four-star offensive tackle Bryson Cooley, a top offensive tackle prospect, has officially pledged his allegiance to the Bayou Bengals! This is a significant win for Brian Kelly and the LSU program, securing a key piece for the future of their offensive line.
Cooley, standing at an imposing 6-foot-6 and weighing in at 315 pounds from West Jones High School in Laurel, Mississippi, is a powerful and athletic lineman with tremendous upside. While offensive linemen don't rack up traditional "stats" like touchdowns or tackles, Cooley's impact is consistently evident on film. Scouts and coaches praise his ability to dominate at the point of attack.
During his junior season, Cooley was instrumental in his high school team's offensive success, contributing to a rushing attack that averaged over 200 yards per game. He rarely allowed pressure on his quarterback and demonstrated a powerful punch, consistently driving defenders off the line of scrimmage to create massive running lanes. His physical readiness and his continuous improvement throughout his high school career have made him one of the most sought-after tackles in the nation.
The recruitment process for Cooley was a hard-fought battle, with many prominent programs vying for his talents. He chose the Tigers over a strong list of contenders, including Ole Miss, Alabama, and Florida, among several others. Cooley recently took an official visit to Baton Rouge, and the "development shows all around at LSU" and the strong relationships he built with the coaching staff, particularly offensive line coach Brad Davis, proved decisive in his decision.
Cooley's commitment, announced on Friday, July 4, is the latest fireworks for LSU's already impressive 2026 class. He joins fellow four-star offensive tackle Emanuel Tucker, also from Mississippi, giving the Tigers pledges from both the No. 1 and No. 2 rated offensive linemen in the Magnolia State. This addition further solidifies LSU's Class of 2026, which is currently ranked No. 5 nationally. Tiger fans have every reason to be excited about the physicality and talent Bryson Cooley will bring to Death Valley!
