Big fan of character playlists please go crazy and tell me about yours

THANK ok here's an itemized listing of the ones I've made

Kaet Mountainborn

I made one for her at the start of campaign, one mid-campaign, and one towards the end of campaign meaning I did 3 playlists over the 5 years. I've since done a definitive mega-mix pulling most songs from all three playlists and rearranging them. It's the mix I reach for still when I'm feeling a particular way and want something comforting :') or when I'm just thinking about my girl which is. Often.

I also did a ClemenKaet playlist about her and her wife's relationship trajectory and I also really love it, though it did re-use some songs from Kaet's.

Teak Valleydeath

(the nega-Kaet barbarian I created for shits and giggles and a one-shot) got a REALLY FUN punchy 80's themed + alt rock mix that is just. Full of bangers. Kudos to @formerlyanon for a few song recs that made it onto here!

Hina

Oh boy I have so many. I have a Session 0 mix I know I've shared out, and (available on demand) I have one that Charlie named the "fuck around and find out mix" as well as a third that's called "aren't you tired of being nice?"

All three are Essential to understanding Hina and where she's likely going to end up so they're both like. Snapshot and potential roadmap/guiding posts for characterization purposes. What they have in common is I think they're excellent playlists >:3 And at the same time I'm like, I wanna share some of them out more broadly when it's time and it's not time yet in-session! Stars not in position etc. I'm probably going to continue refining/tweaking or adding, and I might end up splitting some songs out into a further/future playlist as the campaign and Hina's characterization evolves based on what happens in-session -- I think I like making playlists that are like. Emergent.

And then theres' the Knife & Whetstone aka Rhea/Hina mix that @dreamlogic and I co-created which has been on repeat for months now slkjdflsdf muffled Toxic by Britney Spears playing in the background

Last I have one that's just Hina's Magic Boombox and it's the songs she'd have for performance purposes. Coincidentally this is also a great workout/"running around downtown" mix.

Other Character Playlists

One of my finest playlists I think is for @mageflow's OC/NPC Bryss, who was a major antagonist in our Dandelion Farmers campaign, with a couple songs suggested/found by Charlie or El on it! It has what I think is a great flow/progression, captures the vibe and mood appropriately, and really. Escalates. The same way that Bryss's arc did in-game. I'm very proud of it and multiple songs from it were in the top 10 of my Spotify Year in Review 2022 because I had it on loop. It's called I'll Always Be Useful and is v. vengeful Warlock.

Slow Steps Forward

     And with a soft popping noise and a gust of air they’re gone. They’re gone… and she’s alone, for the first time in thirty six years, eight months, and twenty one days, she’s alone. A deep breath, before the ideas start rushing through her head, one after the other, a dozen plans of betrayal, vengeance, and murder. They left her alone, in this place of power. Not nearly as powerful as if once was, but some magics don’t disappear so easily. The time to make schemes and plots is now, right now.

     Bryss banishes these thoughts from her head. Time enough for that later, if they break their word. For now the blessedly alone ex-warlock has to get out of here. ‘If I can’t make my way then what chance do I have against the other Dooms’ she had said, and now she had to take that test of ability. First a weapon, the sharp wooden shard she pried off the bed of her most recent prison wouldn’t do much, though she kept it tucked in her pocket, for emergencies. Bryss knew very well where swords, axes, and all sorts of weaponry were kept and made her way towards the storage lockers.

     The college that was her home for a decade, and her first prison for almost four more was crumbling away quickly now. “Good riddance,” she mumbled under her breath, surprising herself with her own voice cutting through the almost tangible silence. She retrieved a sword upon reaching the locker, and pondered her next move. An idea hit her, a good idea she thought. Bryss moved upstairs, to the old scribing chamber, where students would study and practice arcane runes and symbols. She collected a scrap of paper and a bit of charcoal from the old headmasters office on the way, and began furiously copying what was last scrawled upon the floor. It was damaged, but she knew how to finish an arcane circle.

     Bryss knew she would need a contact, and the one she had in mind came with a bonus insurance policy. The circle to summon an arcanaloth was complex, and Bryss took several hours finishing her copy, save for one rune to be added when it was time to get in touch, the name rune, Tarvessa.
