is it possible to sign up as a solo writer, but decide later on the line— but before creator applications close— that we want to “upgrade” to the typical bang option and get paired with a creator?

Absolutely! We have an “I’m not sure” option on the sign-up form, so you can always change your mind later. Just make sure you sign up by 31 January!

I have a WIP fic that I'm currently writing and uploading to AO3 chapter-by-chapter (I know roughly how it's going to end so I should complete it in time). Just to clarify, I'm able to submit that as my solo project to the BSB, right? Just coz I don't want to start on something new when I already have one fic on the go. Thankyou!

Thanks so much for your interest in BSB; this is a great question! Unfortunately, fics for the challenge must be new. It can be an unpublished WIP, but if you’ve already started publishing it, it wouldn’t qualify.

Another option would be to write a prequel, sequel, or companion piece to that work for BSB. Let us know if you have any other questions. We hope you decide to sign up!
