Blue Springs Heritage Center Eureka Springs, Arkansas 2016 There's just something magical about all the natural springs in Arkansas. This one is a icy cold spring which forms a huge, blue pool. It's origin is unknown, but as you could guess, it was very popular for its refrigeration services and healing properties. I stuck my feet in and it was very refreshing!

Tell us more about your parents. What were they like? How did you react when you found out you were having a little brother, and again when they had one more?

You’re some real nosy shits, you know that?  But aight.

My dad was a free merchant by trade, he traveled all over before he met my mom and, consequently, settled down with her.  He was Grecian, spoke about five or six languages, really fucking smart.  He taught me a lot-- most importantly he taught me how to take care of myself.  I owe a lot to him.  Honestly, Dirk’s a lot like our father in so many ways, it’s hard to think about sometimes.

My mother?  She was a simple woman, but she was also probably one of the strongest people I ever knew.  Pretty sure that’s why Dad loved her so much; she didn’t take shit from no body, least of all him.  I learned how to sew from her, she and I made a lot of the hand crafted products Dad sold out on the market.

When I found out Mom was pregnant, I was twelve and, if I’m honest, not too thrilled.  I didn’t really want to be a brother.  I was a real shit back then.  But, soon as Dirk was born, man.  I don’t know.  He grew on me.  Didn’t take me long to decide bein a big bro wasn’t so bad.  And when Dave was on his way two years later?  I was a little more excited.  Mom wouldn’t tell me if I was going to have a brother or a sister and the suspense was killing me.  Dirk was still real little (about a year and a half), and he wasn’t sure what the big deal was about.  Kind of funny, thinking back on it.

6. What are you excited for?

Well, nothing's got me excited right now, but hey.

12. Do you own a pair of skinny jeans?

A few, yeah. I wear mostly boot cut, though. (Dave's the one who's always wearing skinnies.)

10. What is the last beverage you had?

Orange crush. This shit runs through my veins.

28. What was the last thing that made you laugh?

Kami's the main source of entertainment in this household. He's a fucking riot. You see his face? It's the face of a big, furry fucking nerd. He's so easily excited over the littlest damn thing, but he's also well disciplined, so he won't jump up on you unless he has permission (like any good dog). Rather, he'll barrel right to you, and stop about a foot away and plop his ass down, waving his tail like a flag.

Well, just yesterday afternoon when I came home from a trip to the post office, he came barreling toward me, but slipped on the wood floor when he tried to stop and rammed right into my legs. It was pretty funny, particularly the look on his face.

23. Are your eyes the same color as your dad’s?

...They're a similar color, yeah. Though his eyes were more hazel. A natural color.

44. Do you tan in the nude?

Well, that certainly is a question. But nah. I don't go out of my way to tan. In fact, the sun and my skin don't really get along.
