Ah shit that fic fucking huurrrrtttt like a bitch. I knew we weren’t going to get a happy ending and that kaeya and diluc were sus as hell from the start. I’m going to pretend our homie has a happy ending and breaks out and shit or else I’ll think about this for weeks.
ukw as long as reader is alive there is hope!!! even if i don't write the ending out, you can imagine any ending au you want (like, you never know?? maybe it turns into...
an apocalypse setting and right after childe jumps & is about to die on the concrete, a zombie bites him so now he's a zombie but like so is the rest of teyvat. so like the zombie outbreak starts in snzehnaya and is slowly spreading outwards to mondstadt.
thankfully diluc and kaeya make it back to mondstadt so they're safe, but they also can't be conducting their sex trafficking operations as openly!! so they kinda shut down and reader gets some repose from this awful life, but then the zombies in snezhnaya start moving and they're contaminating the rest of the world and so diluc and kaeya have to give up sex trafficking to start the Teyvat Defense League 2.0 which is solely dedicated to protecting living ppl from zombies and the reader is forced to join the TDL2, so she trains how to use a gun and sword except that it backfires bc reader uses that training to kill diluc and kaeya.
now having obtained revenge on the two men who lied to her and betrayed her, she goes out to the contaminated sections of teyvat and just. fights zombies all day long. bc deep down inside she doesn't think that there's any point to life anymore and lowkey just wants to die.
BUT then she runs into zombie childe!!!
but like he's a zombie so he attacks her..but she's been fighting zombies for weeks now so she effortlessly restrains him....but then she thinks that maybe this is it?? maybe she can be with childe this way, and maybe this is what fate always had in store for her??? so although he's tied up in front of her and is snarling and drooling like a zombie and stuff, she kneels in front of him and decides that this is it. if she ever wants to die to a zombie she wants it to be to him.
so she sits in front of him within biting-range, but she gives him a final hug the way he asked for before she ran away, and she kisses him on the lips and prepares to be bitten, to die, to be turned into a zombie and for everything to go black. except that childe doesn't bite her. and she doesn't die. and nothing goes black. and so she opens her eyes and realizes that childe is slowly shifting back to normal, the zombied features slowly fading away, and he blinks his eyes blearily and goes "angel? what are you...doing here?"
and she thinks oh shit, i'm in a sleeping beauty AU, and realizes that the secret to curing the zombie apocalypse is getting zombies' loved ones to kiss the zombies on the lips!!
so reader and childe don't really get to talk about anything bc there are zombies everywhere and that's more pressing so the two of them start the Teyvat Defense League 3.0 and the TDL3 is solely dedicated to matching captured zombies w/ their loved ones and slowly, gradually the world goes back to normal.
reader and childe are hailed as heroes who saved the world and reader thinks wow, maybe life has meaning after all and childe thinks wow, maybe i have the ability to not make the lives of everyone i meet miserable, and there's a lot they still need to talk about together but they just saved the world together so at least now they know they can work towards a fresh future together.
/jk sweetheart I'll be back tomorrow to break my heart even more. Eat well, drink lots of water♡

i know you’re probably sick of asks talking about btc but just wanted to say that i just finished binging the series and i can only say that it was one of the best emotional rollercoasters of a fic i've read?! i really loved how you wrote the way how soft childe was when he tried to say goodbye to reader to the intense atmosphere when the plot twist with kaeya and diluc was revealed even though we saw it coming. but also that contrast at the end of kaeya calling reader baby girl and them knowing they'll never have childe call them angel again was ahh. i know it was dead dove don't eat but i wasn't expecting to have my heart ripped out and stomped on. at least if reader's in mond they might get to see jean or eula right? oh my god i was readjng breaking the collar earlier and im here to say THAT I FUCKING LOVE THE SERIES. i am honestly a sucker for crime related fics / true crime in general, and knowing this can also happen in real life is terrifying so it always keeps me on edge. i do also hope you are taking care of yourself and not to overwhelm / stress yourself too much for the last chapter !

In BtC, would Diluc and Kaeya have kidnapped Reader anyways even if she didn't want to leave Childe? Let's just say she had some serious stockholm lol. I kinda assume so. Better yet... what if she snitched on them as soon as she was alone with Childe again? And it was THEM who got blacklisted from the trafficking industry, exposed for stealing merchandise? I just want those two ruined.
honestly that's the problem - diluc and kaeya are just too smart about how they approach human trafficking.
their ultimate goal is, obv, to expand their network and acquire as many high-quality slaves as they can without having to expend the time and money to train said slaves, which is a big reason why they're after the reader. so if she didn't want to leave, they'd probably just manipulate her and kidnap her the way they did xiao :\
but like. even if reader snitched on them when she was with childe, they're protected. bc they're smart about how they did this. even if childe were to go public about it and flag them as two traffickers who were trying to steal, the Fatui (and maybe some of the Fatui's closest clients) would be the only ones to care. diluc and kaeya would still be free to work in mondstadt, liyue, inazuma, yada yada. childe was ostracized bc he put everyone's businesses in jeopardy with lumine, but diluc and kaeya? they'd just be flagged as assholes. it wouldn't be enough to ruin them bc they'd never give someone like the reader, who's just a slave to be used and stolen, that kind of power :(
