Bitcoin derivatives platform BTC gets funding from Seedcoin
By Gertrude Chavez-Dreyfuss, chicagotribune.com
NEW YORK (Reuters) – Bitcoin derivatives trading platform BTC.sx has secured funding from Seedcoin Fund, BTC.sx Chief Operating Officer George Samman told Reuters on Tuesday.
Samman has provided BTC.sx around $250,000 in funding, which he said was the largest investment by Seedcoin so far.
“This is part of the funding we’re trying to raise and we are very close to landing additional funding,” said Samman.
The investment in BTC is the sixth Bitcoin-denominated position from the first SeedCoin fund. The other five businesses are Cryptopay, CoinSimple, MexBT, Hive and zSIM, Seedcoin said in a statement. SeedCoin is a startup “incubator” providing early-stage investment to digital currency companies.

Trading Site BTC.SX Receives 500 Bitcoins in Seedcoin Funding Round
By Danny Bradbury, Coindesk.com
Bitcoin derivatives trading site BTC.SX has received a 500-bitcoin investment through seed-funding outfit Seedcoin.
The trading site, which recently had to temporarily close after the demise of partner Mt. Gox, is the sixth company to be funded in Seedcoin‘s first round – called SF1 – which was announced in December.
Joe Lee, founder of BTC.SX, told CoinDesk:
“Being funded by [SF1] puts us in a great position while we work to build the security, speed and transparency of our trading system. Being funded means we can proactively work with financial regulators to show them that bitcoin and its growing financial services industry is here to stay.”
BTC.SX’s funding represents a quarter of the entire SF1 fund, which hopes to fund seven companies in all.

Bitcoin Derivatives Platform BTC.SX Resumes Trading After Mt Gox-Induced Freeze
By Danny Bradbury, Coindesk.com
Derivatives trading site BTC.SX has resumed trading after a few weeks of downtime induced by the Mt. Gox collapse. The company has signed Bitstamp as its new exchange partner, said BTC.SX CEO Joseph Lee.
BTC.SX suspended its operations until further notice on February 25, after Mt. Gox imploded. At the time, Lee told CoinDesk that he had no prior warning from the exchange, even as a business partner. BTC.SX went to Gox to trade bitcoins on behalf of its customers, who were using Lee’s site to trade bitcoin-based derivatives.
The company was up to around $40m in brokered trades by the time Mt Gox collapsed.
