No Akane, I don’t think that’s how treating someone to a meal works...
Two sides of the same coin
Daaang, that movement though!
Outside of the kick to Kuno’s forehead, this is the first time that Akane and Ranma have fought together. Granted, this is more of an assist from Akane than a proper team-up, but it’s more than being a stand-by or a damsel in distress. If there’s one thing the series needed more of, it was more fighting in tandem from these two.
After being bitten by a radioactive spider, Ranma-Chan goes to check up on a traumatized Akane
This is a big moment for Akane. She has finally let go of the past and is moving on from an unrequited love. I like that the haircut is more than a wonky aesthetic change and that it symbolizes her character growth. The stage is set for our two leads to come closer together.
And in a fitting moment of irony, it is Akane who catches Ranma off-guard through her kindness
This moonlit scene is really pretty. Another shoutout to Masako Goto’s work here!
