Beneath the opera house | Aura & Erik || Closed
Aura found herself wandering through the endless corridors of the opera house’s catacombs. The opera house above her had closed for hours since it was deep in the night. The hallway in front of her was dark the light in her hand lightened her way only sparsely but nevertheless Aura moved confidently in the dark. It wasn’t the first time, that she entered a building illegal and at nighttime. She had studied the plans of the opera house before she came here, prepared herself for this little trip very well. It was a change to her normal nightly activities that was for sure. From the many things she had done in her life there was something she did for the first time this night: hunting a ghost. Not that she expected a real ghost. Aura didn’t believe in such things. Why should she? There was no evidence for such things. And from all the things she knew it was impossible that something like a ghost existed.
But the opera house was haunted. Or at least, the ballet girls, stage workers and other employees of the opera said this. Aura knew that every big building had their ‘ghosts’. It was only natural, that long empty hallways scared people, and dark corners were regarded as eerie. Things got lost, wind was blowing through corridors. Lots of scary things with a natural cause but still most people seemed to find it easier to find imaginary and supernatural reasons for that. But these imaginary ghosts normally didn’t send letters or demand money. But who sent them than? What was behind this whole story? The whole story caught her interest and made her curious. She had visited the opera several times, spoke to the employees and explored the hallways of the opera house. And all the traces led down here. She wasn’t even sure if she would find something … or someone? Aura moved on, only pausing for a moment as a strange feeling seized her. Skeptical she gazed into the shadows. For a moment she stood there, motionless, every muscle in her body tensed like a cat before it’s attack. Then with slower steps than before, she continued her way.
