No pain, No game by Nano
Btooom! - Junya Inoue
My updated manga/LN collection. Pretty good company me thinks
People are really out here calling Squid Game “groundbreaking” even though they could’ve broken that ground like 17 times in the past 20 years already if they’d opened themselves up to consuming Japanese media.
In films, manga, anime, novels, video games... titles like Battle Royale, Danganronpa, Future Diary, Btooom!, Zero Escape, Juni Taisen, High Rise Invasion, Darwin’s Game, Alice in Borderland, Fate/Stay Night and Fate/Zero, and more...
In numerous cases, the games in question are even run by shadowy people/organizations who are abducting the “players” into isolated locations where they must compete for the right to win some lofty prize/wish.
Sure, Japan didn’t invent the genre, but they’ve kept it thriving. There’s a whole lot more like “Squid Game” out there just waiting for you to discover it.
