While I was in Paris I went to a restaurant GOTCHU that offered free tasting of ARIH noodles, a brand created between BTS and Korean food companies Paldo and Hy.
The free tasting started at 12pm and I was there at 11:30am. There were roughly 20 armys standing in line before me and I finally managed to get a table at 12:40pm.
On every table there was a card with the following text
The portion was quite small, after all it was supposed to be just tasting and not a full-on meal, but still decent enough to really get the flavors and enjoy them til the last bite
There were two flavors to choose from and I went with a spicier one, Korean Sweet & Spicy Sauce with Black Pepper.
It was exactly what the name says, sweet and spicy. The amount of spice and sweetness was nicely balanced, the sauce was sweet just enough and it was actually quite spicy but it wasn't overpowering, it add an extra fire to the sweetness. I am a person who LOVES spicy food, I add sriracha, chilli or spicy korean sauces to almost everything, and so to me it was spicy just enough, but if you're not into spicy food or you can't handle it, I suggest you either have tissues nearby or skip this flavor.
The noodles had a really nice bounce and chewiness to them. They were cooked medium, which felt undercooked to me but this is just a personal preference. You can totally cook them soft. However despite my personal preference, the medium went nicely with the sauce so I guess cooking it thay way for the tasting was a good decision.
And here is some nice thing that happened to me. During the tasting you could get noodles as a free gift if you took the photo, followed Arih's official instagram and tagged them in your photo. I don't have social media so I didn't expect to get a gift.
So when the waiter came to take my place and asked to see the photo, I just told hin that I didn't have instagram.
And he just whispered "it's fine, I'll give you one anyway" 😭
It was so nice of him because deep down I really wanted to eat it again lol
So not only did I get free noodles but the gift also included a cute ARIH keychain, which is actually of decent quality.
So overall it was a nice additional experience to my trip to see BTS. Waiting in line was the worst part of it, but were the noodles worth waiting for? Normally I'd say no, because waiting in line for an hour is stupid af but after all I did like them enough to want to eat them again and I still got a free gift. If you can buy them without having to stand in line then go ahead and give then a try :)
