You… did this sometimes. A lot actually. You knew very much it was a problem but it made you feel something and lately that had been so… rare.
Wallowing. That was the only word you could think of. Wallowing in your pity and sadness until you stopped caring about everything and everyone including yourself. Music so loud in your ears you could feel it in your chest, eyes glued to the ceiling, stinging pain behind eyelids from the lack of blinking, hands balanced on top of your chest to double check you were still actually breathing no matter how dead you actually felt. Wallowing.
It came to no surprise that you didn’t hear Taehyung walk into your room.
He initially just came in to check if you wanted to play Overwatch with him and Jungkook, or at the very least jam out to the playlist you had blasting through the house, but as soon as he saw you lying on top of the covers his heart broke in two.
You did this sometimes.
Taehyung wasn’t stupid. He knew very well what depression was and what it did to people. He knew it was complicated and hard and it hurt people that deserve anything but pain. He had seen it in his family, he had seen it in his friends, he had seen it in himself sometimes. Despite all of this, he never knew how to deal with it when he saw it in you.
He loved you so much. He was convinced you had put the stars in the sky and the flowers in the dirt. Every time he looked at you it was like… it was like it was okay and it overpowered him and made things weird sometimes but you adored him just as much, so it was okay.
He walked over and lay down next to you.
The feeling in your chest came back at full force when you felt the weight next to you. He deserved an explanation but how do you tell him what’s going on when you have no idea yourself?
“I’m sorry.” You said.
“You have no need to be.” He replied.
There was silence.
“Can I hold you?”
“Yes, please.”
He pulled you into his chest and every single one of your muscles decided that it was okay to relax now.
“I love you.” He said.
“I love you.” You replied.
He leant over and shut your laptop, trying very hard not to disturb your body ontop of him. Then he reached over and picked up his book he left on the table and started reading softly to you. You eventually fell asleep to his deep rumble and soft breaths and unbeknownst to you, many soft kisses on the top of your head.
