ok. okay wait. something i'm kind of obsessed with is how spike knows buffy is lying about having his lighter in "gone" and goes to grab it out of her front pocket in that scene by the front door. shocking buffy so much so that she thought he was initially going to make a move on her until he pulled his hand away to reveal it [the lighter]. but, BUT we know spike doesn't just read this... instinctively know it... because earlier in the kitchen (when he was actually making a move on her) we can literally see him feel it, look at buffy in bewilderment, and then with a ''somewhat bemused expression''. AND I FUCKING LOVE THAT DETAIL.
we all know spike is very observant and has this sort of intuition and people reading skills that he uses to be a menace. but sometimes he is so insightful and earnest and spot on with his observations and understanding of buffy (think spike finishing buffy's sentences in "flooded" or him correctly categorizing him as buffy's best lay in "wrecked") that it's almost like magic how well he knows her, instinctively.
but i just love this little moment in "gone" where we literally see him figure it out. i can see the cogs turning in his brain. but buffy misses it. and it's like we're let backstage to see how a magician really does his magic trick.
