...He couldn’t bear to look at the princess right now. Not when she was being so kind and understanding with him. She was like a shining ray of sunlight being cast upon a cave dweller.
And her generosity didn’t stop there. Link nearly froze on the spot when he felt his blanket being gently placed around his shoulders, in the exact same manner that the princess wore her own blanket.
“You’re shivering,” she murmured.
“Oh,” Link mumbled in response. He felt so guilty. So unworthy of sitting next to her and sharing her company. “I… I’m sorry, Princess.”
She was silent for a moment. “There is no need to apologize—”
“No, you don’t understand. It’s not just my uncle. It’s also…”
Blood. Corpses. Men who would never see their families again, because Link charged forward without a second thought. The sword pressed down on his lap with an even greater weight than he could fathom.
But the fair Princess Zelda merely placed a hand on his arm, just as she had done in that cold, dark dungeon, only the night before. “Talk to me. Please.”
