say NO to CRUEL COSMETICS
On 11th March 2009, all animal testing of cosmetics in the EU stopped thanks largely to two decades of campaigning by the BUAV and the European Coalition to End Animal Experiments (ECEAE).
But there is a catch. A ‘marketing’ ban that will ensure no animal tested cosmetics are sold in the EU is in jeopardy.
This marketing ban allows three types of animal tests to be carried out outside the EU for cosmetics sold within the EU until March 2013. The reason is to allow non-animal alternative tests to be developed and approved (‘validated’).
Now European Commission officials are considering whether non-animal alternatives will be ready in time for March 2013. Already, a report by scientists is recommending that the ban be delayed even longer – for up to 10 years in some cases.
If they get their way it could mean 10 more years during which thousands of rabbits, guinea pigs, mice and rats will be injected, gassed, or force-fed and killed worldwide for cosmetics sold in the EU.
Please sign the petition and say NO to cruel cosmetics in Europe:

Homesick
As some of you may know I'm currently in the Philippines, and will be until July 28th. But I won't be back until August 1st because apparently we're spending 3 days in Korea. Why you ask? "Because we've never been to Korea!"
Yeah, well I've never been to Afghanistan, and really don't plan on ever visiting.
Any-who. I'm just feeling very homesick. Its hard to feel comfortable in a place you're unfamiliar with. Especially when everyone is speaking a language you hardly understand. I can mostly understand what people are saying, but I definitely can't reply back (and usually responding in English totally ruins the conversation). I remember the last time I was here I felt the same way. Feeling lonely while surrounded by many. But now the feeling is different. Before I could look forward to my little cousins from Chicago arriving. Knowing that they aren't able to come is really disappointing. Adielyn is coming for a few days, which was unexpected, but I'm glad I'll be able to spend some time with her. I just want someone to speak English with. All of the other cousins here that I used to spend time with now are married and/or have children, so now that I'm old enough to want to go out with them, I can't. I know I should learn how to just spend time with myself, and try to find joy in it, but its hard when everyone around you is laughing, and enjoying themselves, and I'm left here wondering what was so funny.
Aside from loneliness, its humid as fuck, there's no air conditioning, no running hot water, the house on the farm is open, with no screens so bugs fly in and out, which causes me to have bug bites the size of golf balls. Literally. Oh, and I'm stuck on a farm.
Mosquito bite count: 26
Well, I took some pictures of when we went to the beach yesterday so perhaps I'll post them.
