Oh, and I forgot to name my favorite show of the winter season.  It was definitely Nisekoi, which really hit most of my weak points when it comes to anime.  Noragami was very close, though, and probably would have been my favorite if it hadn't been for the anime-only final few episodes.

What was your favorite anime from this season, and which shows should we look forward to in the spring? I'm not really sure what to watch other than Fairy Tail.

Near the beginning of each season, I make some notes for myself, dividing series into two categories: those I definitely plan on watching and those that I’ll give a shot.  Here they are for Spring 2014 (I’m sorry these are light on summaries - check out the Lost in Anime site for a really good spring guide) :

Anime I’m Planning to Watch

Mekakucity Actors - I really have no experience with Mekakucity or with Vocaloid in general, but I’m already so familiar with the images from the project through Pixiv that I’m all in.

Baby Steps - Tennis anime that is apparently based on a very good manga.

Isshuukan Friends - Kind of like 50 First Dates? Very gently done? Looking forward to this!

Nisekoi - As far as I understand, this show still has about a half-season more episodes to go? 

Anime I’ll Try Out

Captain Earth - This series is getting a lot of attention, so I’ll tune in and see what it’s all about.  If it’s like Star Driver, though, I’m out of after about half an episode.

Gokukoku no Brynhildr - This looks to be a really moody, sad, and inventive series, which is good.  The bad - it’s from the creator of Elfen Lied.

Haikyuu - I’ll check out this volleyball anime because, A) it’s a volleyball anime and B) I do believe it could end up having a “Free! light” type of following.

Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei - Magical high school series focused on a brother and sister. Love the idea, though I’m not expecting much from the execution.

Ryuugajou Nanana no Maizoukin - Because NoitaminA means it could still be really good, even if it’s about a ghost NEET.

Ping Pong - Because it’s about ping pong and again, NoitaminA.

Soredemo Sekai wa Utsukushii - Medieval shoujo supernatural romance.  It’s been a long time since I’ve watched a shoujo series…

Black Bullet - Post-apocalyptic/viral/supernatural plot. Meh.

I’m sure I won’t like a couple of the “must see” shows I have on my list as much as I anticipate, and that I might find a couple more that I didn’t realize I would like.

9. How many countries have you been to?

I’ve been to nine that I can remember.  I lived in Europe when I was young and we traveled then, but I don’t remember all the countries, so there could be more.

18. Did your mother go to college?

No, neither my mom nor my dad did.

29. What’s the name of your favorite restaurant?

Tatsu-ya Ramen here in Austin is my favorite right now.  One of the friends I made on Tumblr, Cecillia, actually ate there yesterday - I need to ask her how she liked it!

32. What would your parents have named you if you were the opposite gender?

I would have been named “Deborah.”

35. Would you rather live in a rural area or in the suburbs?

As a kid, I was convinced I would live in the country, but I’m now a suburbanite, and by choice.

46. What flavor tea do you enjoy?

None? :P

I’m not a tea person, with the exception of bori cha, Korean barley tea.

I did the jumping jacks.  My family looked at me and then turned right back to watching "The Voice," as if I spontaneously burst into jumping jacks all the time.

A-Kon...Bah

I just got my rejection email for my A-Kon panel submission.  Definitely disappointed.  My panel at IKKiCON was well-attended and, I thought, successful, so my hope was to continue building on that through doing one at A-Kon as well. There was also an opportunity to work with Caitlin Glass on this panel, and since she's a guest at the con, I thought that might curry some favor.

Bleh.  Probably will not be attending A-Kon this year, then.

I’m not sure yet! I usually watch a lot of opening episodes and then cut my watch list down to five or six…and then by the end of the year, I’ve only watched about three to completion.

I’ve already dropped a couple (Copellion and Infinite Stratos 2). Here’s what I’ll be watching for at least another week:

Golden Time

Nagi no Asukara

Kyoukai no Kanata

I’m still looking forward to seeing the first episodes of these shows:

Favorite Male Character

I really like Hinata - he’s that faithful friend kind of guy that’s so appealing.  And I read a bit of the prequel light novel in which he was the main character.

T.K. would be a close second, though. :P

Favorite Female Character

I like Iwasawa - her backstory was among my favorites and she was such a strong character.  Even though her time on the show was short, she definitely left an impression.

Least Favorite Character

I’m not sure if she’s my least favorite, but I’ve never gotten all the love for Kanade.

Favorite Ship

By the time the series concluded, I was persuaded to ship Kanade x Otonashi.

Least Favorite Ship

Naoi x Otonashi.  No thanks.

Favorite Friendship

You got it - Otonashi and Hinata.  They have that really warm relationship that I think many of us could probably use.

Favorite Quote

This is my favorite, but I could list any of about a dozen TK quotes.  Crazy baby.

Worst Character Death (if any)

This is an interesting question, because there are two types of deaths in Angel Beats - vicious ones that are often humorous and have no long-term consequences, and vicious ones that beat your chest in.  Of those, the death of Yuri’s sisters was the most painful for me to watch.

Saddest Moment

Graduation.  Oh gosh…yes, graduation.

Favorite Location

The outside area of the school - the courtyard and such - was very beautiful.  I would’ve liked to have such an expanse in my high school.
