Product Review: Bublish
I recently started working with a social media platform called Bublish. At its heart, Bublish is about increasing an author’s exposure to potential readers and thus increasing sales. It does this by letting authors share excerpts of their books, accompanied by “bubbles,” which are short blurbs about the shared excerpts. Essentially, it’s a way for authors to give insight into their work. I joined Bublish for two reasons. The first was that, in a vast sea of potential marketing tools for authors, it seemed both straightforward and inexpensive. They offer a free two-week trial, and if you choose to join after, it costs less than $10/month. The second reason I joined was that I liked the concept. It seemed fresh & different. As a self-published author trying to market myself, I keep hearing that I need to let my readers get to know me. This seemed like the best way to do it. The amazing thing is that it works! Not only are people reading my bubbles, they’re also sharing them. The weekend before last, I began to see a dramatic increase in my sales. Do I know for sure that it’s because of Bublish? I don’t, but I will say that it came at a time when I myself wasn’t doing any social media or marketing at all (I was too busy moving houses) but the powers that be at Bublish were consistently retweeting my bubbles. Correlation doesn’t equal causation, but the only other explanation is random chance. More than the increased sales - which are admittedly nice - I find that I’m really enjoying the platform. It’s nice to talk about my work. In my personal life, I rarely do. I’ve never been a natural salesperson. Unless people ask me detailed questions, I don’t tend to expound on my work because I don’t want people I meet to think that I only view them as a potential sale. Also, I don’t want to bore anyone. (One of my other great loves is soccer and let me tell you, you can see people’s eyes start to glaze as soon as the word “soccer” leaves your mouth!) So it’s nice to tell people what I was thinking during my process, and to know that those people find what I have to say interesting. Before I close, I want to note that Bublish didn’t ask me to write this post. They don’t even know that I’m writing it! I’m just excited about the platform & wanted to share. Whether you’re an author or a reader, you should check it out. I think you’ll enjoy it.

There’s a new marketing service for Barnes and Noble authors. It’s called Bublish (https://www.bublish.com/home). They offered a free trial for two months, so I decided to give it a try. It’s pretty cool. It hasn’t actually helped me sell anything yet as far as I can tell, but I like the way it works. You upload the epub version of your book, then select a chapter or some excerpt, which they call…

First of all, welcome to all of my new followers! Thank you SO much for following me, it means the world! You all are the BEST xx.
Second, have you heard of Bublish? It's a great platform to share behind-the-scenes details about novels with the readers. I just put up a book bubble about Never Trust a Happy Song and some real-life inspiration I had that was quite ridiculous. Please check it out!
