I love tma fics where Jon can only speak in statements, and where there's a will, we make a way by @bubonickitten is one of my favorites, and i've always wanted to hear what the pieced together statements would sound like, so i played around with audacity to make this. Part of the letter to Martin in ch11, actual text under cut
All that remained was the fog – could wander there for years, and never meet another – utterly forsaken – there seemed to be no end to it.
But it didn’t need to be forever, did it?
“This too shall pass.”
I tried to explain but all I could manage to get through the shaking sobs was, “I love you.”
By then it looked like he was on the verge of tears,
but I couldn’t leave it alone – just couldn’t let it go.
I have tried to write it down, to put it into terms and words you could understand. And now I stare at it and not a word of it is even enough to fully describe the fact that–
I cannot lose him.
I – cared deeply about his well-being.
I know he didn’t deserve what happened to him.
He deserved to–
–to be – beloved–
–cared for – trusted–
–being wanted and appreciated–
–being genuinely loved–
–no matter how wrong it might feel–
–when you’re at your lowest point, when you’re your most emotionally vulnerable.

Dario Idoni, not the lowest on the rung of inheritance but not the highest in a family of means and many siblings. Dario, a man who is shamed for being who he is because of his faith’s view of genders and noble marriage arrangements, and who has thus no desire to associate with nobility beyond what is necessary. And everything is necessary, as his siblings dally and ignore business and the Chantry.
Dario Idoni, who goes to Chantry service each week and kneels before the flames, passing his hands over and through the flames in devotion. Praying he will never be called to raise a hand to his fellow man, because he hates that part of his faith. Dario, who loves beyond his being.
Who learns about the terrible things being done under his nose, under the pay of his family and others and uses his power for good. Who is terrified to find how much his family benefits from elves slaving away, mages beaten into work for no pay. Dario who uses power to help, no matter how afraid.
“Gun Song”, The Lumineers.
Not a totally perfect fit, but it fits.
@bubonickitten, thoughts?

as someone who just started transcribing online for extra cash… i feel this so hard lmao

and then there was the time that a professor took his microphone into the bathroom when i was remote transcribing
