This is the monument in honor of our Taino heritage. • You won't see any actual Tainos in Puerto Rico because they were practically exterminated by the Spanish colonists who used them as slaves. However, we Puerto Ricans have at least 13% Taino blood in us. • You can also find groups that are carrying on the Taino traditions, mostly in the center of the island where the Tainos fled to avoid slave labor. • I talk a little more about this in my most recent post on the blog.
