When Death comes calling, I take notice. It's a card I rarely draw, but when I do I heed it-like a big, spooky, metaphysical STOP sign. As a messenger, Death cuts away the clutter to the heart of things and asks: What can be let go of? What can be simplified? When #marchofthepips was in full swing, the Budapest Tarot arrived in all of its luxurious, decadent glory; and as is tradition with any new deck acquisition I performed a basic interview. 1. Who are you? #death 2. Who am I? #queenofwands 3. Who are we together? #pageofpentacles Death said to me: "I've come to cut away your fancy props and strip down your understanding to it's simplest, most practical elements." What could have been a simple getting-to-know-you- type of Tarot activity had became very serious. Because, as I said-when Death says hello, I take notice. The whole persona of "cutting away the inessential" could easily apply that to the general M.O. of most Marseille and Pip Decks. It's the first gift that those tools offer us-their poetry is short and sweet. And yet...when Death made it's appearance in that reading I felt like it had more to say about what needed to be let go of. In a mundane sense it was the way I'd previously read cards. In a practical sense it was the material "ornaments" that I had previously clung to, which like the Queen of Wands had become too heavy to support me. In a spiritual sense, well...I might keep that message to myself. This deck, and now this gorgeous bag from @raggedpoet are reminders for me that I've come into another cycle of cutting away the excess and opulence that I've spent the last few years creating. What is beginning are exercises in simplicity, and the disintegration of the need for "more." This idea has been percolating for some time now, but when I saw Death I knew it's time had come. Thank you Bobby for creating such a beautiful bag to remind me of the bittersweet message of the Death card: Give up what is over. #budapesttarot #tarot #pipdecks #marseilletarot #tarotreadersofinstagram #transformation #marchofthepipsmarcheson
