Cutest trunkfish babies!!
We all know (and love) trunkfishes (lactophrys). These fish are absolutely goofy when they are adult but they are even sillier when they are babies!!
This pudgy little orb is a juvenile smooth trunkfish, it is rotund with pudgy cheeks. Its body is black with white spots splattered across. It has tiny transparent fins. Juveniles have gray lips, their eyes have a blue sheen.
The juvenile grows to be oblong, it's color distribution becomes more irregular, more yellow and brown begins to show, like on the fins. It's lips are fleshy and pink, stuffed with sharp teeth.
This is juvenile spotted trunkfish, it's... wait a damn minute! It's the same as the smooth trunkfish BUT it's white with black dots insetad of black with white dots.
This is adult spotted trunkfish, it's more streamlined in shape. It has many dark brown splotches across it body, for example between its eyes making the fish resemble a Neanderthal. It has 2 horns close to it's anus, the fins are yellow. It has a visible snout.
This is a juvenile buffalo trunkfish, this fish changes the color most during its development. It's an orange orb, with blue sheen in it's eyes. I looks like a cheeto puffball covered in pepper.
Now this is an adult buffalo trunkfish, this specimen is not big, these fish can reach 50cm in length. Adults are gray, white or blueish, they can change colors to camouflage or to scare away predators. They loose their blue sheen.
Trunkfish babies are so so so cute!!! they are pudgy and cuddly, you just want to squish then like a squishy, but you can't do that because it's a live animal and squishing them would hurt them.
Now tell me, isn't it THE perfect animal to be turned into a squishy?
