Happy sunfish Sunday
Guys. Remind me to NEVER go into the pet store on a weekend ever again. It's all people wanting to buy fish for tanks way too small for them and who definitely don't know what the nitrogen cycle is. It's children running around screaming while their parents smile and nod. It's mothers turning down their daughters' idea to have a species tank of neon tetras in favor of mixing a couple of neons with a couple of glofish white skirts. It's employees letting eight year olds catch their own fish because isn't that so nice of them? It's people who think that the previous type of fish they got died because they're just bad with that type and not because they need to LEARN how to actually take care of fish in general AND the specifics of whatever species. It's fish hell and I'm trapped here too. The screams they'd cry out are lodged in my throat instead.
Ostraciidae babies and adults
Some time ago I've made a list a gender dymorphism list of ostracions, I thought I'll make a comparison list of all ostraciidae!!
Baby: Adult:
Honeycomb cowfish
Scrawled cowfish
Spotted trunkfish
Buffalo trunkfish
Smooth trunkfish
Longhorn cowfish
Roundbelly cowfish
Thornback cowfish
Yellow boxfish
triangular boxfish
camel cowfish
Smallspine turretfish
Did some trimming for Confetti's tank! Every two months or so I start randomly hating this fish tank and then realize it's because the crypts have overgrown and started blocking off all the light, so I trim them back and suddenly love it again. C'est la vie.
The crypt parva are probably going to get overrun by the monte carlo, which of course started sending out runners as soon as I gave up on it ever re-carpeting, so one way or another my carpeting goals will be achieved. I'm also once again attempting to grow some S. repens because I had exactly one (1) wild success with it and I loved it so much that I will approach this stupid, melt-prone little plant like Sisyphus with his boulder. Time will tell.
Also at some point most of my java fern kicked the bucket, so I untangled the rhizome from crypt hell and moved it somewhere less shadowed in the hopes that it will bush out over on that upper left side by the heater.
Overall, happy with how things are going!
