#buga21 in erfurt. while i do love the city's garden exhibition area usually, for the buga i had thought it would be a bit more special. i was a bit disappointed that it didn't differ a lot from its usual appearance, and the most special places (the old GDR structures) fell out of the picture a bit, even though they are the ones that make it so special. also, it was complete chaos yesterday. because of the weather, which was BEAUTIFUL ( hot & sunny, which attracts most humans of course ) and therefore PERFECT for most people, it was basically overflowing and the entrance situation was packed, without any consideration for covid-restrictions. people didn't wear masks, didn't leave room and they were unfriendly and these are all things that put me down a lot and tainted the whole experience. also, prices were expensive af, especially for food and... ugh. i've been to bugas that offered more and really went out of their way to show great ideas and exhibitions, but it was sort of meager this time around... i know the erfurt garden exhibition since i've been little and i know it can be a very pleasurable experience to visit! i was just expecting so much more from a federal garden show, great ideas for how to handle gardening culture in the future, innovative and nature-friendly and focusing on the problems that will await us, but all i did see was the same same as from the past, and mostly the ideas were not into the directions of more preservation, but to selling expensive gardening furniture, kitchens, tools and the like, and advertising gardening styles that felt completely devoid of nature... but not all was bad. i loved the flower beds! i still love the architecture and some new additions integrated well. the japanese garden is as beautiful as ever. and i am pretty sure on my next visit i will fall back in love again, because the spectacle of the buga exhibitions will be behind us and we will get to focus again on what makes this place special! and people will lose interest again and it's going to be great to explore the vast area without this amount of humans in one place 😂 #ega #erfurt #bundesgartenschau #gardenexhibitions #architecture (hier: BUGA Erfurt 2021) https://www.instagram.com/p/CUUgCeRt07y/?utm_medium=tumblr
