These are the bugbirds. When I saw a photo of weevil for a first time I mistook it for some kind of weird birbo.

it's my birthday
time to post these before I unbirthday for the next 365 days
fell in love with @scandalous-dirtcup's bird bugs and had to make one immediately i am in love with these concepts!!! (and also all of soren's other art go look!!!!!)
RAAA when I saw this species I knew I had to make one, they're so fun! This is Patrice, my turkey vulture and cockroach bugbird. A mix of two creatures I think get a bad rap and deserve a bit of love.
I've got more ideas stewing up in my head but I'm trying to take it easy now that artfight is pretty much over.
Thank you for creating such a fun species @scandalous-dirtcup!
wildly off model bugged bird doodle. with a pinterest pose ref
Hii Soren!!
I just wanted to ask if it's okay for other people (like me) to make their own bugbird OCs? Totally cool if not!!!
If other people are able to, are there any features that are the same across the species, or is it creative freedom all the way lol
I’m so glad you asked! To Answer your first question - YES!!! I’d love to see what you guys do with such a silly little critter design. Remember to tag me so I can see what you make! :D
As far as set features and creative liberties go, I drew a small guide below about the influences in a bugbird design as well as a scribble of what I suppose a bugbird is at its bare bones.
With all that said, don’t take any of this as a set of rules! If you want to do something else with your design, do it!!!
Small Q&A :
What counts as a bug? : Creepy crawlies! Weird Wrigglers! Scary Scuttlers! All Arthropods are on the table! Earth worms and Snails are also considered buggy fellows.
Are bugbirds a furry species? : Bugbirds are for all! Even though I wouldn’t consider myself an active member in the furry fandom, I absolutely love the creativity and craftsmanship of the fanbase. Whether you want a bugbird as a fursona or a character, that’s totally awesome!
Content boundaries? : Of course I can’t tell anyone what to do, but if you want my boundaries as a creator, I don’t have many! My only ask is not to use bugbird ocs in sexual nsfw content. These critters are pretty special to me, so your understanding would mean a lot as an asexual artist :)
