8. My emotional support fic... hmm, can I cheat here? Because it’s a whole goddamn series ;) The Serpent and the Seagull by megzseattle. I am in love with the gentle care they give Aziraphale and Crowley’s relationship, and these stories are chock full of silliness and humour, they never fail to make me smile. Also, Frederick the snake. The best OC to ever grace the fandom XD

Words always fail me when I try to describe how utterly gorgeous this is. It’s heartbreaking, and exquisitely detailed, and you’ll never read anything better as long as you live. In case you can’t tell, I’m completely besotted by this story, and everything else that this author writes ;) I’ll be honoured to follow it into 2021.

Shifting Heaven and Earth by BuggreAlleThis

For most of history, since he narrowly avoiding Falling from Heaven with Lucifer, Crowley has been working for the Angelic Corruption Unit. This ended up being far more boring than he hoped it would be, but things change when he is assigned to go undercover on Earth. His mission is to investigate Aziraphale, an infamous angel who has been on Earth since its Creation, and whom Heaven is sure is guilty of corruption or dereliction of duty. He soon discovers that life on Earth is far more complicated than he'd been led to imagine, especially when Aziraphale's demonic counterpart, Hastur, arrives on the scene.

What fic of yours would you recommend to someone who had never read any of your work? (In other words, what do you think is the best introduction to your fics?)

More Lonely Than Distrust is an uncompleted behemoth, so it can't be that. The one that I immediately think of is actually Shifting Heaven and Earth; I once saw it bookmarked as "Dark AU where Crowley never Fell", which tickled me. If I was re-writing it now there are some changes I'd make, and I think it could do with some editing, but I also think that's got some of the scenes I'm most proud of and that I most enjoy re-reading! And even the scenes that could be excised for a tighter fic are self-indulgent slice-of-life ones or meandering emotional conversations, and if you can't indulge in those things in fanfiction, where can you?

7. Any worldbuilding you’re particularly proud of?

Oooh, interesting... I think I would have to say Raziel, the Angel of Secrets, particularly in Chapter 14 of With a Furtive Hand, Always With a Sincere Faith. It was a challenge to write someone so monomaniacal, with such an alien morality, but also incredibly fun!

25. What other websites or resources do you use most often when you write?

Google Maps and Wikipedia, Wikipedia and Google Maps! I like to use Street View whenever I'm writing something set in the modern era, and Wikipedia is obviously the best jumping off point for any of the historical research for other eras!

36. Do you visualize what you read/write?

Another interesting question! Sometimes? Sometimes a moment is crystal-clear in my head, sometimes I have a particular sentence that I like. But I often feel like the majority of what I write is like moving dolls around a set, and I get bogged down in the logistics and actions. But I think some of the best and most fun writing when you are really in a character's mindview and just write. I find Crowley much easier to write when doing that, he's just such a fun and vibrant character, and I love camping out in his head.
