Licking His Wounds (no not like that)
Buggy gets his ass kicked. Like, a lot. He's not super-humanly strong, nor does he fight on the level of a lot of the more notable menaces that sail the seas. If possible he manipulate mansplain and manwhores his way out of problems. And when that's not possible, he takes it until an opportune time to squirm away arrives. Nowadays, when he does get beat up he'll come crawling to you, because you're the only person that's ever given him a crumb of sympathy after he's been roughed up. You're all "Oh my gosh, are you okay?" and rushing to get gauze and ice. He secretly loves how worried you look and the fuss you make over him. And you didn't even have to be coerced into being nice to him! It's addicting.
Maybe it's wrong to want to be fawned over like that, to play on your empathy and kindness. But if he's going to get the shit beat out of him anyway he might as well make the best of it! No one else really cares, he thinks. They know he likely brought it on himself with his schemes. They know he's durable and as hard to get rid of as a roach. His own crew will check up on him but keep a respectable distance. You're new to being a pirate, so you have less frame of reference for the level of abuse he can handle.
Buggy makes sure to look extra pathetic, too, pouting and whining about the black eye one of the other Cross Guild members gave him (without disclosing what he may have done or said to earn it). He makes sure to muss up his hair even more before limping into your room. No, his leg isn't actually hurt. It's for the ✨drama.✨
You let him lie down with his head in your lap and listen patiently while he gives a lopsided and exaggerated version of the events. You're not completely dumb, however. You know he's not as bad off as he pretends. But you like playing along. It's nice to be the person he runs to when he has wounds to lick. You stroke his head, fingers carding through long blue locks as he luxuriates in being the sole recipient of your attention.
