World Building Progress Journal #5
Building Teranus has been a much needed challenge. Having rarely built in this style, some builds take more time than others. That’s why for this week’s update, we only have two builds completed.
However, there is a twist:
To add some variety to the area, these two buildings have been slanted at a diagonal, adding some character to them. I first learnt the best way to do this through my good friend, ActuallySilas, who makes stellar building content btw.
Continuing from the previous log, the Customs Building (on the right) has had a full makeover, adding an additional floor with cubicle and main offices, with these being used as LadyDaftDuck’s respawn point and temporary storage.
Beside it, the Post Office (on the left) has popped up, however the interior has yet to be completed. It had to be a much smaller building to make sure Customs looked important and grand.

With the city sprawling out, we wanted to put an end to the torch spam as soon as possible, so we designed a streetlamp to fit the style. Heavy inspiration was used for this, as our original design utilised daylight detectors and lamps, but it either didn’t work or looked mediocre.
Adding all this detail into a small space truly makes the player feel immersed, but it has its downsides. For instance, where the bridge connected (was floating) to the other side of the river, the road suddenly just ended, which took away from the view.
Therefore, once Customs was built, I took a break from Teranus to work on the rural side of the bridge.
Top image is my plan for how I want the path to wind its way across this land. My idea was basically just curve and meander as much as I could.
Bottom image shows the beginnings of Horseshoe Market coming along, where that area will be overrun with market stalls for those entrepreneurs who are trying to climb the ranks… by selling melons, ig.
Anyway, that’s really about it,
