This is Amir Ohana, Israel's new Speaker of the Knesset. He is the Knesset’s first openly gay person to hold the role. I'm sure I disagree with some of his political commitments. But he is a symbol of what is real in Israel. The vote to confirm his role as Speaker was 63-5, with all coalition lawmakers voting in favor except for United Torah Judaism MK Yaakov Tesler. Yes, two ministers of Knesset seemed to protest Speaker Ohana's inaugural speech. But let's make sure to focus on this fact: he vote to confirm his role as Speaker was 63-5. We've got work ahead to continue tending to the heart of our homeland. I'm ready to do it. I hope you are too. This is a Shehechiyanu moment. Don't miss it. #LGBTQ #Israel #BuildingABelovedCommunity #BuildOnLove https://www.instagram.com/p/CmwqCgDrCEf/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
