Day 2 of @buildingartonwalls with ‘Tow Away’ finished, utilising the salmon wall for the type itself. The decision to reference the building alludes to many of Tallangatta’s buildings being transported 8kms from the town’s original site in the 50’s. Also, this was inspired by found signage in Footscray (an ongoing fascination - credit @brett_colquhoun) not unlike @joncampbellart hence the likeness! Not that you need the $ Jon but so wouldn’t bother suing me as I’m broke AF! Big thanks also to Robert for invaluable assistance for the install! Needless to say, hot AF again so I went for a swim in the Mitta Mitta. Very quiet, many birds. The dog is Teddy, my new best friend and eponym of @teddysjoint. Day 1 of installing one of three works for @buildingartonwalls where @ashleelaing and I toiled for as long as we could in the 37° heat. This first wall is the biggest of the three and demarcates Ashlee’s venture ‘@teddysjoint’ and the mechanic who is very supportive of the project much like other locals met afterwards at the Tallangatta Pub. My work/s respond to the history of this place whilst referencing the materiality of the ‘paste up’ and the buildings/surfaces which act as support. Speaking of which, thank you @regionalartsvic and @auscouncilarts for you support of #buildingartonwalls (at Tallangatta, Victoria)
