The pain associated with a pinched nerve is primarily due to a compressed nerve. Nerves run throughout our bodies that are connected to the brain by our spinal cord. However, when the nerve is compressed, it results in numbness, a tingling feeling and/or a burning sensation. When the nerve is compressed, the brain is not able to send or receive messages which is why we feel pain. This is our body’s way of telling us that something is wrong and needs to be addressed.
