Most Boss fights in games just aren't satisfying. The ultimate bullet sponge the final boss fight should be more than just dodge this attack and shoot until its dead. The final fight should feel epic, you've been playing the game for 8 hours or more and you know that this is the end of it. Everything that game taught you has led you to this final fight. Yet Most games now makes the boss feel so static. It doesn't take long for you to learn its repeat animation of attacks and dodges. Some bosses are better than others but I think the biggest problem is that you never get to see the enemy struggle.
The final boss needs to struggle he needs to show pain. I want to see that hes trying just as hard to kill me. The final fight needs to last long enough that you get to see them get tired. change tactics, his attitude, his demeanor. I want to see a boss get tired. I want to see his animation change from confidence to desperation. The final fight should be its own little story between you and your enemy. You start off strong, you learn his tactics but then as the fight goes on his moves change, all new set of attacks. You adapt an learn but as you keep fighting you start to see him falter. His body language shows struggle hes using every once of energy to stay alive and beat you. Of course you ultimately win I think that would be way more satisfying than just run around avoid attack A-B-C and fill enemy with bullets until health bar drops below zero. With Uncharted 4 around the corner Im really excited for the ending they've always done a good job of showing off body language with there mo-cap. I really hope its not just another punch, shoot, dodge for 4 min and game over.
