Bum Cosplay WIP Part 2 - Shirt

After showing th WIP of my skirt for Bum Yoon, we come to the more tricky part now, the shirt.

The first tricky part even before the actual sewing was the fabric. The way Bums shirt is striped is characteristic for him. So stupid, perfectionist me wanted to make it as close to the manga as possible and so I designed the stripes in a drawing porgram (I used paint) and ordered custom printed fabric. After the fabric arrived I noticed a mistake I made... The green stripe is actually thinner, but custom printed fabric is very expensive and so I was not able to fix it and I had to work with that. The kind of fabric I used is jersey, it is very good to wear and the most shirts you can buy are made out of this material. The only negative aspect is that is a bit difficult to sew because it is strechy. But luckily a jersey presser foot and special jersey needles make it easier.

After the fabric arrived, I finally could start sewing. Like always I searched for sewing pattern which are as close as possible to the manga. I used burdastyle pattern again. This time I had to adjust a bit more. The sleeves were quite short, so I had to make them a bit longer, to be more accurate. But the most tricky part was the stand-up collar. The original pattern had just a normal neckline, but luckily I could copy some parts from one of my pullovers and I got also some help.

Then there followed some boring sewing steps: cutting fabric, neaten the fabric pieces and pin, stitch and and sew them together.

The last part I had to sew was the stand-up collar. This was also the part, who scared me the most. For this I learnt a little trick. To make the stand-up collar more stable and easier to sew I used for the left side a more stiff and woven fabric and it turned out really great!
