Next up: hitting the slopes. As much as Jade and Damian wanted to take the gondola to the longer slopes, their mother made them promise to first really get a feel for the snowboard and/or skis on the bunny slopes before attempting anything else. When they got the first few skill points, Dirk had promised them they could buy their own gear instead of using loaner gear.

So the siblings headed to the bunny slopes and did some runs on loaner snowboards and loaner skis. Naturals, they weren’t, but they did enjoy going down the slopes a lot, even if they ende up on their butts more often than not. 

After a few hours, they both decided that they liked the snowboard better than the skis.

Extend the book by making your own ski maze!

Using a baking pan and straws, or rolled paper, build your own maze to "tilt and turn" a skier through. This activity practices finger dexterity which is needed to learn to write.

You'll need:

a baking pan or flat surface like a box

straws or rolled paper to make the maze

tape

marbles or anything that rolls to be your skier.

After building your maze, practice rolling your "skier" through.
