Bunnycutlet started out as a brick-and-mortar art gallery. Though it closed its doors indefinitely last year, the project lives on in the form of a traveling curatorial platform. Liz Artinian, the brains of the operation, put together the group show “Bunnycutlet Presents” at Cotton Candy Machine in Brooklyn. The show opens January 16 and features new, surreal, illustration-inspired work by Ryan Heshka, Jean-Paul Mallozzi, Kelly Denato, Ian Ferguson, Christy Karacas, Kristen Liu Wong, and Joohee Park. Hello followers and friends, I'm formally announcing that Bunnycutlet Gallery will be moving OUT of our current location at 158 Roebling in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Our building came under new management, and we have been given notice to vacate -- prematurely ending our 5-year lease (legally, due to a buy-out clause). It has been an amazing, incredible, and inspiring year-and-a-half at 158, a space I've invested so much in, and physically built with the help of fellow exhibitors and friends. I'm so proud of the exhibitions we've had here, and of the jovial and artist-filled crowds we've hosted at our openings. We are going on an extended hiatus until we are able to relocate. In the meantime, we have plans to guest-curate at other galleries, and we'll be continuing our participation in the art-fair circuit. Stay with us, keep following us, and keep supporting fine artists in animation and illustration. Our last exhibit at 158 will be The Devil's Carnival, opening March 7th and running until March 30th. Please come, show your support, and help us make this a huge, joyous sendoff to a space that has meant so much to me, and to all of us at Bunnycutlet. Liz Artinian.

Day 2 in our 19-day promo series is a FULL RELEASE of This Culture, a 23 x 42 inch acrylic on wood painting by Anthony Freda -- title image # 2 for our upcoming exhibition, The Devil's Carnival. Anthony Freda is an illustrator with a long and distinguished career in his field. His work is political, often utilizing re-painted images taken from classical paintings or American vintage iconography, transforming them, primarily by supplanting their context, into ironic, often sardonic takes on current issues. The Devil's Carnival, a 2-person exhibition of new works by Devin Clark and Anthony Freda, opens Friday, March 7th from 7-10pm at Bunnycutlet Gallery.

3rd sneak peek today for Derek Rippe's 10-features-in-10-days promo series is this snippet of Rabbutt 6, an 8 x 10 photograph from the artist's photography series entitled Rabbutts. In this photo series, Rippe adorns sexually provocative images with cartoon illustrations, disarming the viewer to laugh at the awkwardness of nudity. Making Fun, Rippe's first solo exhibition at Bunnycutlet Gallery, opens THIS FRIDAY, February 7th, 7-10pm.

Featuring 3 sneak peeks today as we play catch up for Derek Rippe's 10-features-in-10-days series. First up, this snippet of Trophy, a 6 x 6 inch cut-paper in antique-frame piece by the artist. This work is part of Rippe's 15-piece series entitled Scherenschnitte (scissor cuts in German), 5 of which were included in last year's exhibit Too Art for TV 7, the artist is exhibiting 10 new pieces from this series in his upcoming solo show. Continuing with Rippe's desire to subvert innocence, these works take figures from classic children's tales and twist them into modern, sinister and irreverent scenes.
