The group continued down the path with Sandy carrying Pitch and Jack while Bunny was held in the hands of Tooth. They passed by some dandelions, and in the literal sense that they were lions with flower petals as their mane and trees with purple apples and blue oranges hanging from their branches.
Pitch rolled his eyes at the sight. “I so detest this place.”
Jack flew off Tooth’s hand and landed next to Pitch on Sandy’s. He wouldn’t normally bother to get this close, but with three of the Guardians restored to normal size and Pitch still tiny, Jack felt safe.
“Why Pitch?” Jack said with a grin. He couldn’t pass the chance up for some mocking, “I think a place with chaos and nonsense be right up your alley.”
Pitch narrowed his eyes. “Chaos and fear are hardly the same thing. Fear is based on logic and reason to manipulate, and when done well I can twist that to how I wish. This,” he waved his hand around “is not logical. There is no rhyme or reason.”
“Sure, there’s a reason,” Jack chided, “it’s fun!”
Pitch scoffed. “Which is right up your alley, isn’t it Frost? You’re use to your life not making any sense.”
Jack’s fists tightened on his staff. Pitch always knew how to hit the right buttons, didn’t he? Jack was ready to say something when Sandy chose that moment to lightly bonk Pitch on the head with his finger.
Sandy gave a warning glare and shook his finger in a scolding manner as Pitch rubbed his sore head. “I was only speaking the truth you know.”
“That doesn’t mean you have right to say it,” North said as he peeked over Sandy’s shoulder at Pitch. “None of us have had logical life, but what does that matter? We are all together now!”
Jack gave a little smile at the comment. He was really glad to have people with him that watched out for him now.
“Hey!” a high pitch voice suddenly yelled. “Some of us are trying to sleep!”
The group looked up and saw a mouse peeking down from a branch. He was wearing a nightcap and yawned as he rubbed his eyes.
Curious, Jack flew up to the branch to get a closer look at the mouse who was not bigger than Jack. “You’re the Door Mouse?”
“Yes,” the Door Mouse replied with a yawn, “and normally asleep for my fifth nap. What do you want?”
“Have you seen a tea party around here?” Jack asked. “All set up, but with no people around.”
The mouse blinked, but then gave a sleepy nod. “Oh, yeah, Hatter told me something about that.” He fluffed up a pillow against the tree. “Head down and make a left, there’s one there he told me about.” He yawned, shut his eyes and curled up against the pillow. “Good night!”
“Uh…Night!” Jack said as he flew back down to the others. “He says there’s another up ahead.”
“Good work, Jack,” North said as the group picked up their pace. “Let us see who is next!” It didn’t take long for the group to find the next tea party.
This one was set up on a short wooden table covered with a bright green table cloth that had flowers and rabbits sewn into it. This time, the drinks had been poured into chawans instead of teacups and a vase of bright flowers were place in the center.
“Well,” Jack said as he looked to Bunny. “I’d say it’s rather clear who’s table this place is suppose to be.’
“Indeed! Indeed!” Suddenly, a large brown hare wearing a bright red coat leaped out of the bushes. He was half the size of Bunny’s normal height and he grinned as he waved at them all before taking a seat.
“Welcome! Welcome!” the large hare cried.
“March!” Bunny exclaimed, looking up in surprise. “What are you bloody doin’ here?”
“Pass up the chance to attend a rabbit theme party?!” the March Hare exclaimed. “I rather cut off my own foot!”
“You know him too?” Jack asked flying beside him as Tooth carried Bunny to the table.
“Yeah, but he’s more of a screwloose,” Bunny exclaimed as he was lowered to the table.
“No, I’m not!” the March Hare exclaimed. “I have all twenty three of my screws and none of them are loose!”
Bunny shook his head and he looked to the options before him.
This was tricky since these were all of Bunny’s favorite drinks and treats, however, knowing the Hatter he knew which one would restore him to normal. Only one of the treats had a rabbit meaning in their name, so it had to be that.
Time To Guess
1. The first chawan had jasmine tea and a hedgehog slice, a well known treat from Australia.
2. The second chawan had mint tea with a slice of fresh carrot cake.
3. Finally, the third chawan was filled matcha, his favorite green tea, and a usagi manju had been placed it as the treat.
