An eyebrow raised, indignant huff following – despite it being tinged with genuine amusement. Niragi was no stranger to pick-up lines; there were people at the Beach who would do just about anything to be on his good side. But that line? That one was new. It took him a second to recover from the amusement, just long enough to allow his face to fall back into that dead-pan, side-eye stare that made so many nervous.

“That so?” he asked, monotone – even if he was curious as to why. “Even as a zombie you’d have good taste.” Shifting on his feet, he took a moment to switch the ever-present rifle on his arm to the other shoulder so that he could properly give his attention to the woman. “What do you want? Most people don’t throw out random compliments and pick-up lines if they don’t want something. You want me to keep you alive during the next game?”

      "I think I'm starting to get why people advise against feeding wild animals --" He means it only as playful jab at the endearing display before him, of course. Was it condescending to think it was cute? They're sentient creatures and all, but all he wants to do is just pick it up and take it home.

       "Sorry, sorry, that was mean. You're as civilized as it gets." With that, Takeda squats down, sitting on the balls of his feet as he presented his meal box to the rabbit. "Here, take another one. Haven't had anyone else react to my cooking so genuinely -- glad to know it came out well!" And he's all smiles as he speaks, entirely endeared by the little creatures that live around this shrine. They could snap and eat his face and he probably wouldn't be mad.

       While he's offering, he takes another one for himself -- half of his last one went to this little charmer too. There'd be only one left after that, but he’ll just let the rabbit take it.

One hand reached upward, rested on a cheek that had suddenly gone warmer at the compliment. It was cheesy, yeah, but when things were doom and gloom each and every day, a little cheese was a good thing. Kuina shook her head, eyes not quite able to find the other woman’s gaze. “That was one of the worst pick up lines, I’ve ever heard,” she teased, looking far more pleased than her tone would otherwise let on. “Tell me you’ve got other ones that are better than that?”

Finally glancing up, she was all smiles – obviously slipping into a much better mood than she had been moments before. “But thank you. You made my day. I can’t remember the last pick up line I got that didn’t come from some freak with a gun.”

spring   seemed   to   be   eternal   in   her   lands   albeit   it   was   only   beginning:   hibernation   was   becoming   naught   but   the   world’s   greatest   sound   and   the   mellifluous   chirp   of   distant   crickets,   signalled   that   the   land   was   warm   again.   the   air   smells   were   equally   remarkable,   coating   his   surroundings   with   different   aromas   ㅡ   like   baked   sugar   cakes,   or   the   softness   of   rosemary,   or   even   the   fruity   scent   of   strawberry,   an   aromatic   mixture   of   the   richest   mother   nature's   gifts.   but   amidst   the   gentleness   of   her   empire,   there   was   ire   coming   from   the   limbs   of   the   grass,   from   the   cloaks   of   petals,   from   the   trout   stream   vibrating   with   its   intensity   and   he   knew   it   would   be   mere   seconds   until   the   fount   of   it   all   would   meet   him   again.   she   was   not   pleased   with   his   recent   deeds   and   he,   unable   to   tame   what   was   utterly   innate,   could   only   be   there   to   witness   her   disappointment.

in   other   circumstances,   the   yokai   would   have   greeted   her   in   his   human   form,   saluting   her   fellow   warriors   with   a   courteous   bow   (   albeit   many   of   them   were   too   hesitant   to   respond   with   equal   deference   )   before   jazzing   upon   his   tiers   the   cheekiest   smirk.   this   time,   however,   and   given   the   occurrences   of   the   past   days,   where   many   tripped   and   thus   offered   their   flesh,   settrigh   knew   it   mattered   not   how   he   presented   himself   ㅡ   the   outcome   would   be   quite   the   same.

the   wolf   lowered   his   head   the   moment   her   silhouette   could   be   seen,   albeit   his   teeth   and   golden   spheres   glowed   in   the   fading   light,   observing   her.   ❝   in   my   defence,   they   all   tripped   twice.   not   once...   but   twice.   ❞   guttural   vocals   made   the   leaves   quiver   and   the   earth   beneath   quake,   finding   the   statement   somewhat   amusing.   ❝   and   they   all   knew   i   was   around.   pardon   me,   but   i   cannot   be   condemned   for   doing   what   i   was   meant   to   do.   ❞

the   seasons   have   been   harsh   even   in   that   sacred   place   ㅡ   that   the   half-beast   could   perceive.   they   stripped   away   the   bark   and   exterior   layers   of   the   yesteryear   trees   (   many   fell   in   storms   long   forgotten,   but   not   there   ),   albeit   they   rendered   them   all   the   more   beautiful.   mayhap   the   magic   surrounding   the   eldritch   nirvana   nurtured   their   leaves   and   their   branches,   giving   them   the   appearance   of   driftwood,   jazzing   in   patterns   that   reminded   him   of   seaside   waves.   beauteous,   in   their   own   peculiar   and   rich   way,   a   delight   to   witness   even   for   a   few   seconds.   steps   were   thus   calmly   given,   observing   for   a   smidgen   of   a   second   small   rabbits   following   him   alongisde,   as   if   guiding   the   newcomer   towards   the   destiny   gifted   to   him.   he   was   no   fool,   however.   rumours   had   been   spread   about   deceitful   illusions,   about   mystic   beasts   that   guarded   the   gates   to   the   fount   of   desires   and   hence,   only   those   deserved   of   its   energy   could   pass   through   the   walls   and   delve   right   into   the   land   of   a   promising   future.   he   still   greeted   the   beings   with   a   genuine,   albeit   barely-there   smile   ㅡ   there   was   no   other   place   he   could   feel   more   at   ease,   regardless   of   what   many   said.  

halting   his   slow   pace,   the   energy   surrounding   him   caressed   his   bruised   complexion   before   having   its   translucent   limbs   envelop   his   form.   he   almost   gave   in   to   the   touch,   had   he   not   heard   the   soothing   sound   of   a   chuckle.   was   she   the   one   he   had   been   looking   for?
